Michael Golding Joins Leicester City From Chelsea
Leicester City have signed Michael Golding from Chelsea on a four-year contract.
The 18-year-old midfielder – who has built a strong reputation with his performances for the Blues’ youth teams – joins the Foxes for a fee of around £4 million.
Golding’s journey with Chelsea began at the age of 12, when he joined from AFC Wimbledon. Over the years, he has progressed through the ranks, earning international caps for England from Under-15 to Under-18 levels.
He captained the England Under-17 team at the European Championship in 2023, and played in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup later that year.
In the 2023/24 season, the young athlete made 21 appearances for Chelsea’s Under-21s and was part of the team that won the southern section of the Under-18 Premier League. He also made his senior debut in an FA Cup match against Preston North End in January 2024.
Golding expressed his excitement about joining Leicester in a cheerful statement on the club’s website: “I’m looking to soak up as much information as I can from the senior players, to learn from the staff and hopefully have a great season.”
The new recruit’s pre-season training starts today, Monday 8 July, at the Seagrave training centre in North Leicestershire, England.
